Matt Dench joined the Addicks' academy in February 2020, having previously lived in Australia since the age of four.

Capable of playing in both defence and midfield, Dench signed his first professional contract with the club in July 2022.

In May 2023, the club exercised an option to extend the youngster's contract.

Dench joined Isthmian League Premier Division side Billericay Town on a one-month loan in September 2023.
