Steve Avory
Academy Director

Academy Director Steve Avory is one of Charlton’s most important members of staff.

As of the beginning of the 2021/22 season, no fewer than 82 players had graduated from the club’s academy and gone on to represent the men's first-team since Avory joined the Addicks.

A former school teacher who once taught England Manager Gareth Southgate, Avory joined first Charlton as Academy Assistant Director in January 2001.

Two years later, he became Assistant Manager of the Addicks’ youth set-up and in August 2010 he was appointed as the club’s Academy Manager.

The academy has thrived under the stewardship of Avory and his highly-skilled staff. A number of graduates have gone on, and continue, to play in the Premier League and represent England at both senior and youth levels.

In May 2022 Avory was appointed Academy Director.
