Holiday Courses wrap up as 1,087 young people attend throughout summer

-

Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) wrapped up its Summer Holiday Football Courses last week, which welcomed an impressive 1,087 young people aged 4-15, across five locations in South East London and Kent during the six-week break.

This four-figure turnout marked another hugely successful summer for CACT’s Football and Sports Development team, who delivered a wide range of fun and engaging sessions throughout the school holidays.

A key highlight of this year’s summer programme was the introduction of Advanced Holiday Courses. These sessions catered for players competing at Advanced Development Centre, JPL, Kent Youth League, or equivalent levels, and provided elite coaching from UEFA A and B licensed coaches. Alongside this, girls-only and goalkeeper-specific courses continued to be ever-popular among young people.

Across the summer, participants on our courses also enjoyed some brilliant opportunities, including:

  • Meeting Charlton men’s and women’s first-team players.
  • Getting up close to the League One Play-Off Trophy, and having photos with it.
  • For our participants on our girls’-only courses, featuring in a BBC report celebrating the Lionesses’ Women’s Euros triumph.

The courses were visited by several Addicks first-teamers, including Tanto Olaofe, Will Mannion, Karoy Anderson, Conor Coventry, Glória Siber, Lucy Fitzgerald, Tyreece Campbell and Ashley Maynard-Brewer. View a gallery of some of the best images from these visits here:

Although summer courses have now finished, CACT are continuing to offer regular football opportunities throughout the academic year for young people with Charlton Challenge and Wildcats. Keep an eye out for details of our next Holiday Courses, which will take place during the October half-term.
