Charlton Athletic’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability was showcased on Sky Sports ahead of the club's match against Stockport County on Saturday, March 8th.
As part of the build-up to the men’s first-team’s Greener Game themed matchday last month, CACT gave students from St Mary Magdalene Secondary School in Greenwich the exciting challenge of designing a sustainable Charlton kit. This project aimed to raise awareness of environmental sustainability and encourage the next generation to think about the impact of fast fashion and other environmental concerns.
The students presented their designs in front of Sky Sports’ cameras and a judging panel that included Charlton Women’s first-team goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse. The winning team were invited to The Valley to attend last month’s victory against Stevenage, which coincided with the men’s first team’s Greener Game themed matchday. There, the pupils had the opportunity to explain the thought process behind their design to key club partners such as RSK, the University of Greenwich and Pledgeball.
