Burke gives his take on Derby defeat

Reece Burke gave his summary of Tuesday evening's narrow defeat to Derby County at The Valley.

The Addicks fell two goals behind but despite Tyreece Campbell's stunning 67th-minute goal and the late dismissal of Rams' defender Matt Clarke, weren't able to find an equaliser.

“I thought it was disappointing, and that we started slow today," Burke said.

“When we conceded the second goal, it gave us an uphill battle, the goals we conceded were poor today.

"The first goal was too easy, and it was a tough one for Macca [Macaulay Gillesphey] to deal with in the box."

Burke played his first minutes since having to be substituted in the first half of the Addicks' 2-2 draw at Blackburn Rovers earlier this month.

He said: "It’s been good to get minutes today. I am good, all fit, and ready to go again at the weekend."

"We have a big game at the weekend, which we wil definitely be up for.

"You noticed a change in the second half, and we needed that edge. The fans were behind us and were pushing us on."

The Addicks travel to Millwall on Saturday afternoon, in the Sky Bet Championship.

"We have to recover and go again at the weekend, I am sure the boys will be up for it, it's a big one."

Nathan Jones' side are next in action at The Valley on Friday, February 6th, as they take on QPR. Don't miss out, get your tickets now!
