FA YOUTH CUP REPORT | Bury Town 1 Charlton 4

'

Patrick Casey hit a hat-trick as Charlton's U18s progressed to the second round of the FA Youth Cup with a 4-1 win at Bury Town on Tuesday night.

Casey had an early effort ruled out for offside but was celebrating for real in the sixth minute when he was found unmarked at the far post to tap home a low cross from Henry Rylah.

Goalkeeper Oliver Kellet-Green then thwarted Micah Mbick, but the young Addicks doubled their advantage in the 16th minute. This time Casey positioned himself at the near post and flicked a low cross in off Kellet-Green.

The Bury stopper palmed away a curling shot from Casey a couple of minutes later, before denying Ibrahim Fullah and Keenan Gough.

Bury pulled a goal back in the 39th minute, Ben Curtis slotting home a loose ball after his initial effort had been saved by Jude Sadler.

But Casey had his treble in the 67th minute, scoring with a low shot from the edge of the area. He was denied a fourth when Hellett-Green turned his effort over his bar.

In the 73rd minute, Kellett-Green pushed substitute Manu Wales’ drive behind, however, from the resulting corner, Mbick fired home to make it 4-1.

Casey and Gough both hit a post late on as Charlton sealed their spot in the next stage of the competition.
