Garner previews Burton trip

Ben Garner is eager to keep the momentum going on Saturday when the Addicks travel to Burton Albion.

The Brewers currently sit at the foot of the Sky Bet League One table but have enjoyed an upturn in form under boss Dino Maamria, who stepped up from his assistant manager role in September following the departure of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

“You have to fully respect every side in this division,” he said. “Every team has got strengths, every game is a difficult one and Burton have generally done well at home over previous seasons.

“They’ve been really, really competitive over the last five, six, seven weeks. They’ve had some good results and they’ve pushed teams - they had a great point away at Peterborough for example.

“They have some good players within their ranks who are very committed and I’m sure they’ll be looking to play on the front foot themselves with the position they’re in in the league.

“We’ve prepared in detail as we always do and we’re looking forward to the game," the boss added. "Our focus is on going there, getting three points and trying to get as high up the League One table as we can.”

Over 1,000 Addicks have already snapped up their tickets for Saturday’s trip to the Pirelli Stadium and tickets are available from the ground on matchday.

“Tuesday night was brilliant,” beamed Garner. “The away end was packed out and it was a great atmosphere with great celebrations at the end. It was a memorable night after the penalty shootout.

“I thank every single person because it makes such a difference and it gives energy to the players,” he explained. “We’ve had a long run of games during this period and we’ve rotated at times but we’ve not got huge numbers to do that regularly so the players have had to put in a lot of effort.

“The support, the energy and the noise that comes makes such a difference and it really helps. We’re looking forward to seeing that again on Saturday and hopefully we can put in a good performance to get the points that we want.”
