HALL OF FAME | Vote for your class of 2025

'

Addicks fans can now vote for their 2025 men’s and women’s Hall of Fame inductees.

Three men's players from three eras - pre-1950s, 1951-85 and 1986 to date - will be inducted and listed on the Hall of Fame board in the Charlton Athletic Museum, along with the club's second-ever women's entrant.

This year’s contenders are…

Pre-1950s

George Armitage (1924-30)

Appearances: 184

Goals: 4

An England international centre-half (one full cap and five amateur caps), Armitage played as an amateur for Charlton for five seasons and captained the 1928/29 team who were champions of Division 3 (South) - Charlton’s first promotion as a Football League club.

Scotty Kingsley (1912-23)

Appearances: 20

Goals: 2

An enormously important figure in the formative years of Charlton. Kingsley was a talented forward who travelled from park football all the way to the Football League. His reluctant agreement to be sold to Fulham in 1923 saved the club from bankruptcy.

Jack Pugsley (1928-34)

Appearances: 225

Goals: 9

Charlton’s first Welsh international, Pugsley was a wing-half and another key member of the 1928/29 promotion side. He succeeded Armitage as captain and stayed on to play four years in Division 2. He was an inspirational leader in the period before the arrival of Jimmy Seed.

1950-85

Len Glover (1962-67)

Appearances: 196

Goals: 24

A fast and skilful left winger who was a great favourite with The Valley crowd for five years in the 1960s. One of football’s real characters, there was real disappointment when Glover was sold to Leicester City.

Billy Kiernan (1949-60)

Appearances: 401

Goals: 93

One of only eight Charlton players to have played more than 400 games for the club, Kiernan was a top class forward with an eye for goal. An England B international and a one club man, nearly 300 of his appearances were made in the old First Division.

Sam Lawrie (1956-62)

Appearances: 208

Goals: 78

A goalscoring winger who, along with Johnny Summers, made Charlton such a potent attacking force during the early post-Jimmy Seed era. Lawrie was the type of player who could light up a game and never gave less than his best.

1986 to date

John Humphrey (1985-96)

Appearances: 267

Goals: 4

A three-time Player of the Year, Humphrey was a technically perfect full-back who was one of the 1985/86 promotion team that brought top-division football back to Charlton and then kept the club alive during the exile years.

Johnnie Jackson (2010-18)

Appearances: 279

Goals: 54

A towering presence during a highly turbulent period in Charlton’s history, Jackson was captain of the 2011/12 promotion side and one of the most popular players of recent years. An England U20 international, Jackson was Charlton Manager between 2021 and 2022.

Shaun Newton (1993-01)

Appearances: 285

Goals: 27

Lightning fast, Newton was a skilful winger who played an important part in two of Charlton's promotion-winning teams, 1997/98 and 1999/00. He adapted his game to include defensive duties and was one of the unsung heroes of the Alan Curbishley era.
