Hernández: 'I'm grateful for the opportunity'

Onel Hernández is thoroughly enjoying life at Charlton Athletic and is keen to use his experience to help Nathan Jones' group.

The 32-year-old joined the Addicks on a short-term contract in September 2025 and made his debut during last weekend's draw with Hull City.

"I'm obviously grateful for the opportunity that I've got and I'm proud to be the first Cuban at the club," Hernández explained. "I've settled in well and I had a good welcome from the players and everyone here.

"I want to help the team as much as I can and bring my experience into it as we have a lot of young, talented footballers here.

"We know how passionate Nathan Jones is, so I knew what would come. The team played really good football and have done very well. I'm not a player that comes in and expects straight away to play - you have to earn it and I felt that the starting 11 earned every right to play every game."

The Addicks return to The Valley on Saturday to take on Swansea City. U12s tickets are priced at just £1! Click here to purchase your tickets now!
