Karoy Anderson signs new long-term contract

Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce that midfielder Karoy Anderson has committed his long-term future to the club by signing a four-year contract, with the option of an additional year.

The 18-year-old has impressed for the men’s first-team throughout pre-season, featuring in all seven friendlies and finding the back of the net against Welling United, Wealdstone and Millwall.

He joined the Addicks’ esteemed academy as an U9 and marked his senior debut with a goal in an EFL Trophy tie at Plymouth Argyle in November 2022.

Having signed his new deal, Anderson is now looking to maintain his development at the club. He said: “It feels amazing to sign a new contract. I’ve been here at Charlton since the age of eight and my goal has always been to progress through to the first team.

“I’m very thankful to Dean Holden for the opportunities he’s given me and the faith he’s shown in me this pre-season. I now want to keep progressing and showing the fans and the Manager what I’m capable of.”

Manager Dean Holden added: “Karoy is a fantastic young player with so much potential, so I’m delighted he’s committed his future to the club.

“The length of the contract shows how highly we rate him and how much he wants to continue his journey here which began at U9s. He’s got really good technical and physical attributes and he’s an excellent character with a real focus on doing his best for the team and continuing to develop his game.

“He’s been outstanding on and off the pitch in pre-season and I’m looking forward to watching him continue to improve.”

Andy Scott, Technical Director, commented: “We’re delighted that Karoy has committed to Charlton and wants to continue his development as a footballer and a person with us.

“He has acquitted himself extremely well over the last six weeks as well as during his time with our academy and has shown the ability and mentality required to be a significant player for the club.

“As a new Senior Management Team, we have always said that our academy is a key component in our plans and having another talented academy product sign a long-term deal highlights how important that strategy is to the future of the club. I’m sure the fans are as excited as we all are about this signing and we’re hopeful this is the first of many.”
