Kelman: 'We just want to get going'

Summer signing Charlie Kelman is relishing Saturday's Sky Bet Championship opener against Watford at The Valley.

The 23-year-old striker joins the Addicks following a very successful loan spell at Leyton Orient, where he scored 27 goals and collected the Sky Bet League One golden boot.

"I'm sure all the fans are excited to be back in the Championship," Kelman said. "All the boys are excited and we just want to get going. Especially today in training you can see that everyone's up for it and we're all talking about it. We're excited and we're focused. We know it's going to be tough, but we're looking forward to it.

"Obviously I had the experience of playing Charlton quite a few times last year. The gaffer was backing the project up with the signings and the environment that he's building with the boys, which I saw firsthand last year playing against them - the togetherness, the grit, the determination. It's something that I wanted to be part of straight away. I want to make a name for myself in the Championship."

"I'm going to attack the season with open arms and see what comes with it," he continued. "I'm just going to enjoy it - obviously I've got my goals and my aspirations, and eventually I'll be able to speak about them, but I'm just going to keep my head down for now, keep focused and try and get as many goals as I can.
