Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of Lucia Lobato on a one-year contract.
The defender joins the Addicks from Olympique de Marseille, where she recently helped the club win the league and secure promotion to the French top flight.
With experience across several different leagues, Lobato believes that her background will serve her well as she prepares for the challenges of the Barclays Women’s Championship.
"I would say the WSL2 will be the strongest league I’ve played in, so I’m excited for that step up. Marseille was a techy and powerful environment, so that was a great experience."
Looking ahead to her first season in South East London, Lobato has set herself clear and grounded goals.
"I want to stay consistent week in and week out, get game time, and hopefully help the club achieve its collective goals."
Born in New York and raised in Ireland, the 24-year-old has played for Galway WFC, college football for ULM Warhawks, Racing Power FC in Portugal before her move to Marseille.
