Karen Hills’ side are back in Championship action this weekend as they travel northwest to face Blackburn at the Lancashire FA County Ground on Sunday, KO is 2pm GMT.

The Addicks fell short on Wednesday night in their first game in the Continental Cup competition to WSL side West Ham in a 2-1 defeat. After a strong start from Charlton thanks to a 20-minute Carla Humphrey strike, the Irons levelled the score in the 57th minute courtesy of a goal from Emma Harries. Although Charlton looked bright in the second half, Isibeal Atkinson’s powerful strike found the back of the net seeing her side take maximum points. 

Charlton’s last league outing ended in a 1-1 draw against Durham. Kayleigh Green was able to salvage a point for her side from the spot in stoppage time.

Karen Hills' side currently sits 5th in the Barclays Women’s Championship table.

THE OPPOSITION

Simon Parker’s side welcomed Charlton this weekend in comfortable form having only lost two games so far this season.

Rovers were also in cup game action mid-week, travelling to Durham in their first Continental Cup group fixture which ended in defeat. The Wildcats kicked off the game strong with Saoirse Noonan finding the back of the net in the second minute. Blackburn pulled one back in the 19th minute when Georgia Walters’ corner kick met Helen Seed in the box who put the ball beyond McAloon. 

Millie Chandarana was able to put Blackburn ahead in the 29th minute after her ball was smashed into the bottom left corner. The Wildcats secured a 3-2 victory on the night thanks to two late penalties converted by Noonan and Ryan-Doyle. 

Rovers were on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline to Crystal Palace last Sunday, and currently sit 3rd in the Championship proceedings.

The last time these two sides locked horns was back in March this year as the points were shared between the two sides in a 1-1 draw. 

Charlton's last victory over Blackburn was back in April 2022 thanks to goals courtesy of Mia Ross, Emma Follis and Lois Heuchan in a 3-0 win.
