Senda appointed first-team Assistant Manager

Danny Senda

Charlton Athletic are pleased to confirm that Danny Senda has been promoted to joint men's first-team Assistant Manager.

The 42-year-old will work closely with Manager Dean Holden, fellow Assistant Manager Anthony Hayes and Goalkeeping Coach Glyn Shimell as they prepare for the upcoming 2023/24 campaign.

Senda has been an important member of staff within the club's esteemed academy since joining in the 2021/22 season. During that time, he has led the club's U18 and U21 sides at different times and guided the latter to the London Senior Cup title earlier in May 2023.

Commenting on the appointment, Senda said: “I've had some positive conversations with Dean. I think everyone’s seen the impact he’s had since coming to the football club. He’s been really quite clear with how he feels I can impact what he wants to achieve and the outcomes that he wants to get to. He’s made it very clear to me what my role will be within the first team structure and I’m really excited to get going and get started with it.”

Holden added: “I've been really impressed with what I've seen from Danny since I arrived at the club in December. I looked at a number of external candidates and I felt that Danny was the best person for this particular role.

"He's an outstanding coach with an excellent knowledge of the game. The combination of Danny, working alongside Anthony Hayes, gives us a really good balance in our coaching staff. We all share an overarching vision but have different skillsets that complement each other.

"We're already working hard on next season to create a working environment that gets the most out of every single member of both our playing staff and backroom team.”

Following a 13-year professional playing career, Senda transitioned into coaching at Brentford’s academy, where he worked alongside Hayes for four-and-a-half years.

In the summer of 2017, he became Head Coach of Barnet’s U18s and was then promoted to First-Team Coach there two years later.

Senda was Leyton Orient’s Assistant Head Coach between July 2020 and June 2021 prior to joining Charlton.
