U18 PLAY-OFF PREVIEW | Charlton v Sheffield United

'

Charlton's U18s will hope to move one step closer to being crowned as Professional Development League 2 champions on Friday night when they host Sheffield United at The Valley in a national play-off semi-final (5pm KO BST).

Jason Pearce's side enjoyed a hugely-successful regular league campaign, being crowned as PDL2-South champions for the third successive season.

The Addicks haven't claimed the national title since 2018, however, and on Friday evening they have the added incentive of trying to overcome the side who beat them in last season's national final.

Charlton scored 84 goals in their 28 league matches this term - an average of three per game - which is more than any other club across the north and south divisions.

Sheffield United, meanwhile, only conceded 32 times in their 28 league matches, giving them the best defensive record across the two divisions. The Blades finished second in the northern league behind Barnsley.

The winner of tonight's tie at The Valley will face off against the winner of the other semi-final between Barnsley and Millwall for the right to be crowned national champions.

Supporters are encouraged to attend Friday's play-off semi-final in SE7 with admission priced at £3 for adults and £2 for over 65s and U18s, while season-ticket holders and Valley Gold members go free.
