U18 REPORT | Charlton 1 Wigan Athletic 1

'

Jason Pearce’s Addicks shared the spoils on the opening day of their 2025/26 campaign, picking up a 1-1 draw against Wigan Athletic at Sparrows Lane.

The young Addicks found their breakthrough early on, as Emmanuel Sol-Loza was threaded in behind the Latics defence. The forward was able to knock it past the keeper, being wiped out in the process.

Sol-Loza made no mistake from the spot, slotting in with a composed, placed finish, into the bottom corner.

Heartbreak struck for Pearce’s side in the dying embers as a back post header clipped a flailing arm in the box. In which the official had no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

Charlse Hughes stepped up from 12-yards, firing low and hard into the corner with full-time looming.

Up next for the U18s is a trip to the Mick George Training Academy (KO 12pm BST).
