U18 REPORT | Charlton 2 Watford 1

'

Charlton’s U21s secured a 2-1 victory over Watford at Sparrows Lane on Saturday.

The young Addicks made the perfect start to proceedings, taking the lead within the first minute. Micah Mbick beat the defender to Mason Hunter’s long ball and crossed for Patrick Casey, who headed into the bottom-left corner.

Mbick was the provider again on eight minutes, this time racing onto Kai Enslin’s pass and picking out Jacob Safa. Having got the ball under his spell, the midfielder calmly shifted it onto his left foot and fired home from 12 yards.

Watford pulled a goal back on 69 minutes through Kash Odiase, who latched onto a loose ball and sent an unstoppable curling effort beyond James Batt.

Charlton kept the Hornets at bay thereafter to claim a fourth league win in their last five fixtures.

The U18s are next in action on Saturday, February 24th, travelling to near neighbours Millwall (KO 11am).
