U18 REPORT | Charlton 4 Hull City 1

'

Charlton U18s tasted triumph in a 4-1 encounter at Sparrows Lane on Saturday afternoon against ten-men Hull City.

The visitors were reduced to ten-men early on as Reuben Silk was shown a straight red inside 15 minutes, allowing the young Addicks to secure a comprehensive victory in South London.

Jason Pearce’s side capitalised on the away side’s withdrawal in quick fashion, finding themselves ahead inside 28 minutes through Shia-Lee Burnham. A dangerous pass was flashed across the face of goal, being cleared as far as the forward who let fly with a thunderous effort into the roof of the net.

Ed Thomas added a second just moments after the restart as a neat free-kick routine saw the midfielder curl a sensational strike into the top corner from the edge of the box.

The Addicks added a third just seven minutes after the interval as they countered with pace, seeing Burnham arrive at the back post, slotting in with a well-taken finish.

While in similar fashion up the other end, Hull managed to pull one back after the hour-mark as Ted Gode fired in from an Alfie Maskell cross.

Before Chetam Ezenwata provided the finishing touches eight minutes from time, heading home a Michael Mylona corner.

The U18s return to action on Saturday morning, with a trip to Crewe Alexandra (KO 11am BST).
