U18 REPORT | QPR 5 Charlton 5

'

Charlton's U18s were forced to share the spoils with QPR in a 10-goal thriller at the TSG Training Centre on Saturday.

Patrick Casey bagged a brace and Luke Ashburn, Jacob Safa, Ibrahim Fullah were also on the scoresheet for the young Addicks in a topsy-turvy clash in west London.

Emmerson Sutton headed home Alfie Tuck's corner midway through the first half to give QPR the lead and Jake Leahy did likewise 10 minutes before the break to double the advantage.

The young Addicks started the second period brightly and halved the deficit within five minutes of the restart through Luke Ashburn, who rose highest to nod Kai Enslin's cross beyond Conor Clark.

Substitute Fraser Neill restored the hosts' two-goal cushion moments later, converting the rebound after Mason Hunter had bravely blocked Sutton's goalbound shot.

Charlton responded instantly, however, as Jacob Safa curled a wonderful, left-footed effort into the bottom-left corner from 18 yards.

Sutton scored his second and QPR's fourth on the hour-mark, smashing home from close range after being teed up by Jake Coomes.

Just three minutes later, Ibrahim Fullah raced onto Patrick Casey's through ball, beat his marker and coolly fired past Clark.

The goals continued to flow and Casey made it 4-4 on 67 minutes when he steered Enslin's low cross home.

The young Addicks were awarded a penalty six minutes later as Emmanuel Sol-Loza was brought down by Clark after capitalising on a loose back pass. Up stepped Casey, who coolly picked out the bottom-left corner to give Charlton the lead for the first time in the contest.

However, with 10 minutes remaining, Kennedy rifled a first-time strike into the top-right corner, forcing Charlton to settle for a point in an enthralling encounter.

The U18s are back in action on Saturday, February 10th when Ipswich Town visit Sparrows Lane.
