Charlton’s U18s capped off their league-winning season in style on Friday, securing a 1–0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
Kayode Peterkin scored the only goal of the game for the Addicks, opening the scoring inside eight minutes.Patrick Boje regained possession in midfield and played the ball through to Ellis McMillan. McMillan then played a perfectly weighted pass out to Peterkin, who carried the ball beyond the Sheffield Wednesday defence and slotted it home.
Peterkin continued to trouble the Owls’ defence, breaking free of his marker and charging towards goal, but saw his effort saved by Oliver Lloyd.
The young Addicks dominated the majority of the first half, but couldn’t make any of their chances count.
Jack Belton tried his luck from range in the early stages of the second half, but his strike fizzed across the front of goal.
Jason Pearce made a host of changes throughout the second half, as all substitutes were used.
The Owls’ goalkeeper was kept busy throughout the game, producing a number of fine saves to keep his side in contention. Charlton were unable to make the most of their chances but still secured all three points to round off an impressive season.
