U21 CUP REPORT | Charlton 4 Barking 3

'

Charlton's U21s secured their spot in the semi-finals of the London Senior Cup with a 4-3 triumph against Barking on Tuesday night.

Micah Mbick and Patrick Casey both bagged braces at Princes Park as the young Addicks sealed victory, despite Barking's efforts of a late comeback.

Charlton opened the scoring inside 16 minutes through Mbick. Tolu Ladapo was the provider, dancing his way past two visiting defenders before firing the ball across the face of goal for Mbick to tap in.

Casey doubled his side's lead eight minutes later, curling a left-footed effort into the back of the net.

Chris Lock's side continued to cause havoc inside the first half and netted their third with seven minutes still to play, as Mbick's strike flashed across a dangerous area and was turned in at the back post by Casey.

The visitors came flying out the blocks in the second period and pulled a goal back within six minutes of the restart through Anthony Martin.

Fortunately for Charlton, Mbick was on hand once again, restoring his team's three-goal lead just 10 minutes later when he volleyed home Ladapo's cross.

Almost instantaneously, the Blues responded with their second of the night as Karl Kayembe netted and hopes of a dramatic turnaround heightened just moments later when George Forrest added Barking's third.

The visitors pushed for parity in the final 20 minutes and struck the woodwork twice in additional, but the young Addicks held out to seal their space in the competition's final four.
