Late extra-time goals brought Charlton U21s' Premier League Cup run to an end at the quarter-final stage following a 5-3 defeat against Southampton.
Patrick Casey, Alan Mwamba and Harvey Kedwell were all on the scoresheet for the young Addicks on the south coast.
Saints took the lead after 23 minutes when Cameron Bragg's corner was converted by Lewis Payne.
The hosts doubled their advantage just moments later as Romeo Akachukwu fired home from range.
Casey halved the deficit four minutes before the break, with his shot finding the back of the net via a deflection.
Chris Lock's side got back on level terms in the 64th minute through Mwamba, who turned home Ryan Huke's ball across goal.
Both sides pushed for a winner in what was an end-to-end encounter thereafter, but with nothing to split the sides the tie went to extra time.
Kedwell gave the young Addicks the lead for the first time on the day on 103 minutes when his corner delivery evaded everyone, including Saints keeper Dylan Moody.
The hosts restored parity three minutes into the second period of extra time through Bragg, who headed home.
Princewill Ehibhatiomhan fired Saints ahead moments later, curling beyond Tommy Reid and into the top corner.
As Charlton pushed for another leveller, Brandon Charles added Southampton's fifth late on to seal their place in the final four.
The young Addicks are back in action on Tuesday when they host Sheffield United at Sparrows Lane (KO 2pm BST).
