Charlton's U21s suffered a late defeat against Bristol City at Sparrows Lane on Tuesday afternoon.
The young Addicks took the lead on 70 minutes courtesy of Ethan Brown's spot-kick, but a late Ephraim Yeboah brace earned all three points for the Robins.
Both goalkeepers were forced into action during an end-to-end first half, with George Hardy producing a superb stop to deny Alex Murphy before Joseph Duncan did likewise at the other to keep out Paris Lock's venomous effort.
Chris Lock's side were awarded a penalty on 69 minutes after Trialist was felled in the box by Max Davies. Brown stepped up and make no mistake, sending an unstoppable spot-kick past Duncan.
Yeboah levelled the scoring nine minutes later, firing into the bottom-right corner.
With two minutes of normal time remaining, Yeboah bagged his and Bristol City's second to snatch victory for the visitors.
The U21s are next in action on Tuesday when they travel to the Welsh capital to take on Cardiff City (KO 2pm GMT).
