Charlton’s U21s were condemned to a 2-1 defeat against Colchester United at The Valley on Friday afternoon.

Conor Wilkinson gave the visitors the lead on 40 minutes, heading home Oscar Thorn’s inswinging free-kick.

Wilkinson doubled the U’s advantage five minutes after the restart, stabbing home the rebound after Prince Adegoke had superbly denied Archie Oliver.

Tayo Edun halved Charlton's deficit moments later, curling home brilliantly from the edge of the 18-yard box after being found by Kazenga LuaLua.

Edun and LuaLua were among five first-teamers featuring for the young Addicks, with Panutche Camará, Louie Watson and Tyreece Campbell also starting in SE7.

The U21s are next in action on Tuesday, March 26th, travelling to Lancashire to take on Fleetwood Town at their Poolfoot Farm training ground (KO 1pm).
