U21 REPORT | Charlton 2 Cardiff City 1

'

Charlton’s U21s came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory over Cardiff City at Princes Park on Thursday.

Goals from Henry Rylah and Daniel Kanu cancelled out Lennon Peake’s early opener for the visitors as the young Addicks returned to winning ways in Professional Development League 2 – South.

Peake fired the Bluebirds ahead after just two minutes, capitalising on a defensive mix-up to finish past Nathan Harvey.

The Addicks restored parity on 32 minutes through Rylah, whose cross from the left caught out visiting stopper Rohan Luthra under pressure from Kanu.

Hamza Serrar’s side continued to enjoy chances thereafter and Kanu gave his side the lead nine minutes after the restart.

The goal came from relentless pressing by midfielder Harvey Kedwell, who retrieved possession and fed Rylah who, in turn, released Kanu. Having turned superbly to create a shooting opportunity, the forward rifled the ball past Luthra with an unerring finish.
