Karl Robinson says that his side are in confident mood ahead of Saturday’s match against Fleetwood Town at The Valley.
Charlton picked up an against-the-odds victory at third-placed Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, a game in which they came from behind with 10 men to earn maximum points.
And next up for the play-off chasing Addicks is a clash with the Cod Army, a side who have not tasted a league defeat since November and currently occupy a top-six spot.
“It will be a big test from that perspective,” the Manager said. “I think Uwe Rosler has done a brilliant job at Fleetwood. We know how hard it is going to be and I think Uwe has really assembled a strong team who are genuine promotion contenders.
“If we want to be in the mix then these are the teams that we need to compete with. We have got to be ready for their attacking threat, and they have plenty of it. They’ve got some very good players.
“I’ve got a tremendous amount of respect for Uwe, even though a few people seem to think that we don’t get on! We’ve had many a debate and argument in the past but as a person he is a brilliant man and I look forward to going toe to toe with him on Saturday.”
The transfer window came to a close on Tuesday evening and Robinson says that he and his staff are now fully focussed on the remainder of the season, and also provided a team news update.
He said: “Now it’s about us moving forward as a group and looking forward to the forthcoming games. Fleetwood is massive on Saturday.
“Having Ricky Holmes back is almost like a new signing – I’ve not been able to pick him from the start since I joined the club. Josh hopefully could be back in a week’s time. Pearcey and Harry Lennon are getting closer.
“Tex will be back from his ban, but obviously Lewis is suspended.
“When you look at the players that we’ll soon have available, we’ll definitely be a strong looking team and squad.”
