Annual Albany Taxi Charity trip begins at The Valley

George Jones reports

The Valley was again the scene for the beginning of the annual Albany Taxi Charity trip on Monday afternoon.

Starting in SE7, around 200 local, special-needs children were transported down to Hastings for a day of enjoyment at the funfair, a fish-and-chip dinner and a disco.

The charity event has been running for 45 years and, this year, saw 80 London cabbies take children and their carers down to the trip’s regular destination.

Charlton’s Club Development Manager Lisa Squires said: “It was great to see so many local children so excited about their day trip to Hastings and we were, as always, happy to support the excellent work that the Albany Charity do.”
