Brunton-Wilde and Clifford extend Addicks contracts

The Charlton Women’s team are pleased to confirm that Chloe Brunton-Wilde and Charley Clifford have had their contracts extended for a year, as preparations for next season in the FA Women’s Championship continue.

The news comes after new deals were confirmed earlier in the week for vice-captain Grace Coombs and young striker Georgia Griffin.

Midfielder Clifford, a product of the club's centre of excellence, has over 200 appearances to her name and played a key part in Charlton’s successful season last year. Her well-weighted cross set up Kit Graham’s equaliser in the FA Women’s Premier League Championship Play Off final versus Blackburn Rovers.

Having signed from Arsenal at the start of last season, 20-year-old defender Brunton-Wilde enjoyed her first full season in first team football and is relishing the chance to play in the second tier of women’s football.

Brunton-Wilde originally came through the club’s youth academy before making her move to North London. Her return to Charlton came at a perfect time, giving her the chance to play regular first team football.

“I feel I had a good season, it was my first full season in first team football and I’ve learnt a lot this year. I’m so ready to crack on for next season now,” Brunton-Wilde says.

“I think as a team we’ll play better against big clubs which will make us up our game. We would rather be playing in tough games than smashing teams nine or ten nil."
