Charlton youngster joins Boreham Wood on loan until the end of the season

Youngster Josh Umerah has joined National League club Boreham Wood on loan until the end of the 2018/19 season.

The striker, who enjoyed a spell at Wycombe Wanderers last season, has made three substitute appearances for Charlton’s first team.

Caretaker boss Lee Bowyer said: "It's a move that is best for all parties. Josh needs to be playing men's football rather than with the U23s so it's a loan that will benefit him."

Charlton Academy Manager Steve Avory said: “This is a good opportunity for Josh to head out on loan and experience senior football on a weekly basis.

“The National League is a very physical division, a division with a number of big clubs and ever-improving quality and one that I am confident Josh can excel in. He enjoyed a good spell with Wycombe Wanderers last season and hopefully he can build on that this time around with Boreham Wood.

“It’s a big season for Josh and he needs to continue his development in a senior environment rather than an U23 one.”

The Addicks have the option to recall Umerah in January.
