Bowyer on Taylor, Bauer, Forster-Caskey, Page, Doughty and the "outstanding" Charlton fans

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer updated on the availability of various players following today's 2-0 win at Gillingham.

Bowyer's full press conference is available to watch in full on Valley Pass now. You can sign-up for Valley Pass for just £6.50 per month.

On Patrick Bauer and Lyle Taylor not playing…

“It’s precautionary. Obviously they’ve not trained all week. Lyle said his groin felt a bit better yesterday and so did Pat with his knee but it’s not gaining anything by risking them. I’ve got to look at the bigger picture and that gives opportunities for others to come in, stake a claim and show that I can trust them when we do get to the play-offs.“

On Jake Forster-Caskey and Lewis Page…

“They need minutes. There is another (friendly) game behind closed doors on Tuesday. They’ll get 90 (minutes) in to them now on Tuesday. Ben (Purrington) has been outstanding, outstanding for me. Pagey has to just keep working hard and you never know. Football is crazy.”

On the Charlton faithful…

"They were outstanding. All season they have been outstanding home and away. To travel and keep supporting the lads as they have, I really appreciate it and so do the players. I’m glad that they’ve gone home with another victory, singing all the way home I guess."

On why Alfie Doughty was on the bench…

“I’ve been watching U23s games of late and Alfie scored two against Burnley the other week and I thought he was outstanding. I thought ‘Do you know what, I’m going to reward him’. I spoke to Jason Euell (U23s manager) and said ‘Who do you think deserves it more?’ and he said Alfie has deserved his chance to be in amongst it.”
