Bowyer on Jonny Williams and the first day of warm weather training

Speaking after the first warm weather training session in sunny Spain, Lee Bowyer gives the fans an update on Jonny Williams' presence in training and how the lads are faring in pre-season.

On Jonny Williams travelling with the squad...

"I just thought it was a good idea that Jonny came along with us. He obviously hasn’t got a club at the moment, so it suits us and it suits him. Like I said before things weren’t dead and buried with Jonny. We’re just waiting to see what options he has but obviously we’re interested in him. So, it’s good for him to come with us and get the pre-season that we’re doing so that if we do sign him he’s going to be up to speed with the rest of the lads. So it’s good for us and it’s good for Jonny.

Even if he goes onto another club then at least he knows that he’s had good training and he’s ready for whatever he chooses to do."

On the first session in the heat...

"Yeah it was good, they’re rusty with the ball but that’s just natural. They’re working hard, their attitude is spot on as always and yeah, it’s a good first morning out here. It’s going to be tough this evening. But yeah, it’s a good start. Some are ahead of others but that’s just normal. But I’m really pleased with how it’s gone so far."
