Charlton have begun transfer deadline day by announcing the signing of Sam Field on a season-long loan from West Bromwich Albion.
The 21-year-old central midfielder completed his medical at the club late last night and becomes the Addicks' 10th signing of the transfer window.
Field, a former England U20 international, has played 41 games for the Baggies, including 19 appearances in the Premier League.
After the success Charlton had with midfield loans last season, Field becomes the third midfielder to join the club on loan following the arrivals of Conor Gallagher from Chelsea and Josh Cullen from West Ham United.
Charlton manager Lee Bowyer said he was looking forward to working with him, he explained: “He’s a very good player with Premier League experience. He’s young, wants to learn and he works hard. He knows what is expected coming here, I’ve told him that we’ll improve him. I’m looking forward to working with him. He seems a really nice lad and he wants to learn.”
Head of Recruitment Steve Gallen said: “Sam’s a good football player. He’s got a very good left foot, a good physique, he’s tall, quite elegant, athletic, he can play, he’s been at a very good club since he was a kid so I think everyone will recognise he’s a good player.”
Field will wear squad number 28 this season. His first interview as a Charlton player will be available on Valley Pass later today.
