YOUNG FAN OF THE WEEK | Monty Shaw

Monty Shaw became the latest winner of Charlton's Young Fan of the Week award when we played Birmingham City last Saturday

The accolade – which is awarded at every weekend home game – rewards junior Addicks fans for showing great support for the team.

Before the Addicks fixture against the Blues last week Monty was invited pitchside to meet and receive a signed Charlton football from the squad.

We asked Monty some questions about his favourite team...

Why I became a Charlton fan…My dad and granddad are Charlton fans and we are a great side. Charlton were the first team I saw play

My first game at The Valley was… Tuesday, 21st August, 2018 in the evening versus Peterborough. We lost 1-0 in the last minute but it was my first ever game of football and we sat right behind the Charlton dugout. I was very tired and fell asleep in the car after but I loved being at the Valley

My first away day with Charlton was… Wembley, 26th May 2019. The league one play off final against Sunderland. I remember seeing lots of fans as we got off the tube, I was really excited and nervous. Seeing Patrick Bauer score in the 93rd Min and 54th second was epic and seeing us lift the trophy with all the music was brilliant.

My favourite Charlton game is… Wembley again, I still watch the match on TV

My favourite Charlton player is… Lyle Taylor because he scores lots of goals but I also like Johnny Williams because he is fast and skilful.

My favourite Charlton kit is… This season’s, it’s my birthday in October so I am hoping to get one

The best part of being a Charlton fan is… Seeing lots of goals at the Valley.

The Charlton player of the season will be… Lyle Taylor, Johnny Williams or Dillon Phillips. Dillon makes great saves, Johnny has lots of skill and Lyle scores loads of goals

The game I am most looking forward to is… Millwall, because they are our rivals and I want to see who is better. I think it is Charlton

If Charlton could sign any player in the world who would it be? Ronaldo because he is the best player in the world, but my dad says we already have the best number seven.
