Lyle Taylor on Charlton Women supporting Pink October campaign and their match on Saturday

Charlton striker Lyle Taylor can't wait for this week's women's team game at The Valley on Saturday.

Aston Villa are the visitors this weekend and Taylor will be in attendance at the game to cheer on the team and meet fans.

Charlton Athletic Women's team will be supporting Taylor's Pink October campaign by raising funds for Cancer Research UK on Saturday.

Ahead of the matchup Taylor has praised the team for their support of his campaign, as well as telling us what he expects from the match.

“The women's team were brilliant last year, they were the ones to kick things off. It’s good for me to give back and go down and support them at The Valley against Villa,” he said.

“I’m hoping for a good result as the girls are as well. I’d like to see a good, entertaining game and ultimately a Charlton win at the end of the day.”

The striker encouraged fans to join him and support the women during the international break as he hopes the fans can help the Addicks pick up three points.

He explained: “I’d love to see as many people down there as possible to get behind the girls and if anyone wants to come over to me and take a picture with my bright pink hair then please feel free to do that but ultimately the goal is to support the girls and hopefully the girls win the game.”

Charlton Women finished third last season, narrowly missing out on promotion to the FA Women’s Super League behind Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. However, Taylor believes this year could see the Addicks promoted to the top division: “It’s a good level of football and hopefully we’ll do better than last year and be looking at promotion at the end of the year.”

The match is being played at The Valley on Saturday, 12th October, at 3pm.
