Bowyer looks ahead to West Brom and provides injury update

Speaking at Friday's morning's press conference ahead of the Addicks' trip to West Bromwich Albion, Lee Bowyer spoke about Charlton's injury list, the clash at the Hawthorns and reassures supporters about the possibility of Josh Cullen and Conor Gallagher being recalled by their parent clubs.

Below are some of the talking points.

On injuries...

"Jonny Williams is going to be out for at least eight weeks. He had an operation on Tuesday. Sam Field is probably looking at around the same time. We're talking about freak injuries. They're just unlucky and you can't control them. Three knee injuries at the same time with Lyle [Taylor] as well - it just doesn't happen.

"Obviously, last season we had the two shoulder injuries in the same game. We're having these freak injuries. Sam's the other night, the fella has just fell on him and he's just twisted his knee. It's unlucky. And with Jonny we still don't know what's happened. It wasn't a tackle, it's just a weird one.

On the trip to West Brom...

"We've got nine injuries and we're losing [Jonathan] Leko because he's West Brom's player. It's tough, especially when you play Wednesday and then you've got to try and recover for Saturday.

"We're running out of bodies, we'll have four kids on the bench that have never played a senior game before.

"But we'll be okay, I'm sure. We'll have a game plan and I know that the players will go out there and give 100 per cent. For as long as that keeps happening, we'll always be in the game and we'll keep surprising teams.

"I thought we was very good the other night. On another night we win comfortably, we should have won comfortably but we weren't ruthless enough in front of goal. That's why we ended up losing it and to come away with nothing, that hurt. I'd have to say that is probably the most hurtful game that I've had since I've been in charge with the way it happened.

"I said to the players 'we have to learn from this'. The positive thing is that we have all these injuries and we're still doing well. "

On the possibility of Conor Gallagher and Josh Cullen being recalled...

"I can't see it happening. For me, Josh Cullen had a good season last year and now we've made the step up and he's doing well. I can't understand why they'd call him back now. They're not struggling. They wouldn't bring him back just to be in and around the squad, that wouldn't be any good for his development.

"With Conor it's likewise. Speaking to Chelsea, they're over the moon with the way things are going here. They're happy with what he's doing and the way that we're looking after him. Again, I can't see that happening . I'd be very very surprised."
