Director Marian Mihail on getting fans at games, club ownership, the transfer embargo and the #SaveCAFC campaign

Please see below a letter from Club Director Marian Mihail...Dear Charlton fans,

I wanted to write to you at this strange time as I know there are a lot of questions about the club. While I can’t provide all the answers, I do believe regular communication is important and I will do my best to keep you updated over the next few weeks.

I’d like to begin by praising you for the #SaveCAFC campaign on social media and the wider press. The campaign has spread awareness around the world and shows just how much so many people care for this club.

Earlier this month the EFL declined to approve several Owners’ and Directors’ Test applications. Since then, discussions have begun to sell the club and there is interest from various parties. Unfortunately we are bound by confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreements, so I can’t go in to more detail at the moment. Whatever happens though, my priority is that the club moves forward.

In the meantime, we remain in close contact with the EFL, who have been supportive to helping the club through this period.

We have started bringing players in, with the signings of Alex Gilbey and Conor Washington, but we are under tight restrictions because of the transfer embargo the club is under. However, Lee Bowyer and Steve Gallen are focussed on building a team within those restrictions that can get promoted out of this division this season.

We don’t know yet when fans will be allowed back in stadiums but we are doing everything we can to make sure we are in the best place possible to get supporters back in as soon as we have government approval. The team at The Valley will begin consultation with supporters in the next few days as fan feedback will be important for the final plans.

We seem to finally be in a place where we are moving forwards positively. At this stage I ask for your patience and support in helping us through this period.

Marian
