MATCH PREVIEW | Blackpool v Charlton

The Addicks will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins as they head to Bloomfield Road to take on Blackpool on Tuesday evening (7pm).

Lee Bowyer's new-look side got off to an impressive start by claiming all three points from Wigan Athletic at The Valley on Saturday and the Addicks will be aiming to make it six points up north.

Blackpool are coming into the game off the back of a 1-1 draw at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday. They have just one win from their nine fixtures in all competitions so far this term, with four defeats, one draw and one win in League One.

Jason Pearce, Deji Oshilaja and Alex Gilbey will remain sidelined for the trip to the seaside, as will Marcus Maddison, who is still recovering from a minor ankle complaint.

Meanwhile, Blackpool are without the injured Keji Anderson and Matty Virtue, but former Addick loanee Sullay Kaikai could be in line for a return having sat out of the weekend's trip to Crewe.

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer: “We’ve just put this group of players together. In two weeks, we brought in nine players and you have to figure out how we’re going to work.

We haven’t done much together as a group, but we will work with the group and, when we do, I believe we will go on a run, just like we did two years ago.”

Blackpool boss Neil Critchley: "There’s no point playing well and picking up a point at Crewe and then not backing it up on Tuesday against Charlton.

"Charlton have just come down from the Championship, it’s a tough game. But we’re at home and we’ll be confident."

Charlton and Blackpool have met on 64 previous occasions with the Addicks winning 18, the Seasiders 30 and the 16 remaining games ending in draws.

Our last trip to Bloomfield Road ended in a 2-1 defeat in December 2018 - an 87th-minute goal sealing the points for the hosts.

Charlton's last victory away at Blackpool came in a midweek clash in March 2015 which saw Chris Eagles, Simon Church and Johann Berg Gudmundsson all net in a 3-0 win.

James Bell will be the man in the middle on Tuesday evening. He has taken charge of five games, so far, this season, producing 15 yellow cards and one red.

2020/21 is his first term as an EFL official and Tuesday will be his first ever third-tier fixture having only refereed League Two and EFL Trophy matches so far.

He will be assisted by Richard Bartlett and Billy Smallwood and Fourth Official Robert Lewis.

The match at Bloomfield Road is being played behind closed doors and supporters are reminded to maintain social distancing guidelines and to stay away from the stadium when the match is taking place.
