WOMEN'S REPORT | Charlton 3 London Bees 1

The Addicks secured their Championship safety on Sunday afternoon as goals from Lois Heuchan, Elisha Sulola and Charley Clifford saw Karen Hills’ side comfortably beat London Bees.

Bees were bright for the opening 10 minutes, with Sophie Quirk causing trouble down the left-hand side, forcing Eartha Cumings into an early save.

The Addicks were dangerous with their set-pieces all game, coming close from a corner in the 31st minute.

Charlton took the lead in the 42nd minute through Lois Heuchan. Ella Rutherford whipped in a corner, Heuchan took control and struck it into the bottom corner to make it 1-0 at half-time.

The Addicks had an amazing chance to make it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time, Jess King pounced on a poor pass by a London Bees defender, but her strike was whiskers past the post.

Charlton dominated second-half proceedings and in the 63rd minute scored their second. Rutherford drilled a lovely ball across the face of goal, after bouncing around it fell to Sulola who poked it in to make it 2-0 to the Addicks.

10 minutes later, Charlton were awarded a penalty after Ella Powell was hacked down in the area. Clifford made no mistake from the spot and cooly slotted in Charlton’s third.

Charlton could’ve made it four with just three minutes left, Beth Lumsden charged down the left wing and drilled an excellent ball across the face of goal, but no one could get that all important touch on it.

The Addicks were unable to keep a clean sheet as they conceded a scrappy 90th-minute goal to make it 3-1 at full-time.

The result means London Bees are relegated from the FA Women’s Championship.
