WOMEN’S PREVIEW | Crystal Palace v Charlton

Charlton Women will be targeting a return to winning ways when they take on Crystal Palace at Hayes Lane on Sunday afternoon (2pm).

Having suffered consecutive defeats against Lewes and Sunderland respectively, Karen Hills’ Addicks earned a hard-fought point against Sheffield United at the Technique Stadium last weekend as the sides played out a goalless stalemate.

Palace, meanwhile, come into the game on the back of a 3-1 triumph against league leaders Durham, extending their unbeaten run in the FA Women’s Championship to four games - with just a point separating the two sides ahead of Sunday’s derby.

The last meeting between the Addicks and the Eagles came at Hayes Lane in March and saw the hosts snatch a point in dramatic fashion as Shauna Vassell turned into her own net deep in stoppage time, cancelling out Lois Heuchan’s 18th-minute header and gifting Palace a share of the spoils.

The Addicks will see some familiar faces at the encounter, with club legends Charley Clifford and Grace Coombs signing for Crystal Palace at the start of this season. Clifford is Charlton's all-time appearances record holder with 288 Addicks appearances, whilst Coombs captained the club to its most successful Championship season ever, finishing third in 2018/19.

Supporters can follow all the build-up to Sunday’s game on Charlton Athletic Women’s official Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Fans who are unable to make it to Hayes Lane on the day can watch the game live on the FA Player.
