Karen Hills on Sunday's game against Sheffield United at The Oakwood in Crayford

Karen Hills is looking forward to seeing her team back in action as the Addicks start 2022 against Sheffield United at The Oakdwood in Crayford on Sunday.

She spoke exclusively to CharltonTV on how the team are preparing for the upcoming game, new signing Jorja Fox and had a message for the Charlton supporters.

On the Christmas break...

“We had a little bit of time out over Christmas, which was well needed I think, just to refresh and really reflect on the first part of the season. The girls have come back in looking strong, fit, ready to go. We’ve had a really good week of training and we are looking forward to going into the Sheffield game.”

On Sheffield United...

“They are a tough team and they have got some fantastic individual players. They’re coached really well by Neil, so we know it’s going to be a tough test. But we, first and foremost, need to concentrate on focusing on ourselves and make sure we do what we know we can do on the ball and that’s dominate it. Try and play the way we know we want to play. We worked really hard on that this week but at the same time we’re not going to take them for granted and we know their strengths, so we’re fully prepared for them.”

On the competitive nature of the Championship...

“I said at the start of the season that this league is the most competitive league and I feel that it will be all the way up until the last couple of games. Any team can beat anyone on any given day, and I really do believe that which makes it exciting for neutrals, not so good for managers or supporters. But we’re concentrating on what we can do, we know that we are better than what we were last year. The style of football that we’re playing is more attractive and ultimately that’s what we want to do, to encourage more fans to dome down and support us and we will keep moving forward and hopefully we finish higher up than what we did last season.”

On Thursday's signing of Jorja Fox...

“It’s a fantastic signing for us. It just goes to show the work that we’re doing behind the scenes at Charlton Women to really put our reputation out there and to attract someone of Jorja’s calibre. Yes, she’s a young player, but very experienced in terms of being around probably the best players in the world at the moment. So, we’re really pleased to have her. She’s very young, still got a lot to learn, but we’re here to support that development and I’m sure she’ll do very well.”

On her message for Charlton supporters...

“Come down. I know it’s going to be a cold one, just wrap up warm and the girls here are going to put a show on for you. We’re going to work exceptionally hard, and we’d always do everything we can for the badge and for each other. I think we have proved that, and our home form has been relatively good this season and I’m hoping that the game is going to kick us off for a great start to 2022.”
