MATCH PREVIEW | Charlton v Fleetwood Town

Charlton return to Sky Bet League One action at The Valley for the first time in three weeks on Saturday afternoon (3pm) when Fleetwood Town visit the capital.

The Addicks will be seeking a return to winning ways having now gone four league games without tasting victory - three of which have come on the road.

TEAM NEWS

Conor Washington (hamstring) will be assessed ahead of Saturday’s encounter having missed last weekend’s trip to Cheltenham Town, though Jackson will be without the services of Sam Lavelle (groin), Jake Forster-Caskey (ACL), and Jayden Stockley (hip).

New arrival Juan Castillo will take his first full training session as an Addick at Sparrows Lane on Friday and will be available for a possible inclusion in the matchday squad.

Long-term absentees Brad Halliday, Harrison Holgate, Darnell Johnson and Jordan Rossiter remain sidelined for the visitors, while forwards Ged Garner and Joe Garner are also injury doubts.

THE OPPOSITION

The Cod Army have enjoyed an upturn in form of late under head coach Stephen Crainey, who has steered the Lancashire side out of the relegation zone with four triumphs in their last six outings in the third-tier.

Crainey’s men travel to SE7 on the back of a dramatic 1-0 victory over then league leaders Rotherham United last weekend, with substitute Anthony Pilkington poking home the all-important winner deep into stoppage-time.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Charlton and Fleetwood have squared off on nine previous occasions with the Addicks winning three, the Cod Army one and the remaining five fixtures resulting in draws.

The Addicks won October’s reverse fixture at Highbury Stadium 2-1, substitute Stockley emerging from the bench to claim all three points on 69 minutes after Danny Andrew had cancelled out Jonathan Leko’s opener.

MATCH OFFICIALS

Brett Huxtable will control proceedings on Saturday afternoon. The official last refereed a Charlton fixture in February 2021 - a 3-0 reverse against Blackpool in SE7.

Huxtable will be assisted by Stephen Finch and Louis Marks, while James Vallance is the Fourth Official.
