AWAY DAY GUIDE | Hillsborough

Here's everything you need to know about at an away day at Hillsborough as the Addicks head to Yorkshire on Saturday...

TURNSTILES

A ground with plenty of character, the away fans are housed in the upper tier of the Leppings Lane end. Turnstiles open 90 minutes before kick-off.

WHERE TO EAT

A range of pies, sausage rolls, burgers, and hot dogs can be bought from inside the ground, while a Burger King and numerous independent takeaway restaurants can be found within walking distance of Hillsborough.

WHERE TO DRINK

The Railway Hotel on Penniston Road admits away supporters, which is on the main A61 that runs by the stadium and can be found just before a railway bridge.

Alternatively, the Norfolk Arms and the Red Lion can be found on the way into Sheffield and also admit away fans.

WHERE TO PARK

There is some street parking if you arrive early, although this is limited and most roads near to Hillsborough are permit only. There are also some unofficial car parks along the A61 that charge in the region of £4.

Alternatively, you can park at Meadowhall Railway Station without charge, and then take a tram to Leppings Lane. This costs £3 and takes about 35 minutes.

TRAIN TRAVEL

Trains depart from London St Pancras International to Sheffield every half hour, and the journey takes just over two hours. That station is around three miles from the ground, but the number 53 bus to Ecclesfield can be taken from the nearby bus station and runs regularly to the ground with a journey time of 30 minutes.

Alternatively, a tram from the station to Hillsborough will cost you £3.90, will take around 20 minutes, and require a further ten-minute walk to reach the ground.

PROGRAMME

The Owls' official matchday programme titled 'Wednesday' is available from the ground priced at £3.
