Player Biography

Tyreeq Bakinson joined Charlton in January 2024, arriving on loan from Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Born in Camden, Bakinson began his career at Luton Town where he progressed through the youth ranks to earn a professional contract.

The dynamic central midfielder made his senior debut for the Hatters in May 2016 and made a further five appearances before completing a move to Championship side Bristol City in the summer of 2017 for an undisclosed fee.

Successful League Two loan spells followed with Newport County and Plymouth Argyle, who he helped get promoted into League One.

Bakinson would then go on to feature 47 times and score five goals for Bristol City in the Championship before joining Ipswich Town on loan for the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.

He sealed a permanent move to Sheffield Wednesday in July 2022 and helped them win the League One play-offs in his debut season as an Owl.

Bakinson joins the Addicks having made 10 appearances for Wednesday during the 2023/24 season, eight of which have come in the Championship.
