CACT host Family Fun Day in Bexley

-

Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) celebrated the conclusion of its Bexley Summer Youth Sessions with a free Family Fun Day at Crook Log Leisure Centre last week.

The event welcomed more than 300 people and marked the finale of CACT’s summer programme, which saw youth mentors engage with young people over a five-week period in various locations across the borough, supported by the Bexley Community Safety Partnership.

A wide range of activities were on offer for young people of all ages at the Fun Day, including spray-painting t-shirts, face painting, football and cricket challenges, PlayStation games, DJ decks, inflatables and free food.

CACT’s Risk and Violence Reduction Manager Kim Dixson said: “We’ve gone to different areas of Bexley over the past five weeks, and we have concluded the programme with a Celebration Day. We invited all the families who’ve engaged in the programme in the last five weeks to the Celebration Day, as well as any Bexley residents. We’ve made it inclusive and free for everyone with different activities on offer.

“We’d like to thank Bexley Council for funding the programme and a great Celebration Day. The feedback we’ve had has been positive already, and it has been really good to bring different people together while doing a range of activities for all age groups.”

Attendees at the Family Fun Day shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, highlighting both the welcoming atmosphere and the range of free activities.

“There was nothing to pay for, it’s rare that an event like this doesn't just want to make as much money as possible. Everyone was super friendly and very helpful!”

“My little sister really enjoyed the face painting and football activities that were on offer. All the staff were excellent and so wonderful, playing with the children and making it an enjoyable day for everyone. It was a wonderful day for all the community, we saw lots of people, children and families enjoying themselves. I also had lots of lovely chats with other families and CACT’s staff. Thank you CACT for all of your community work!”
