The Young Leaders Programme offers young individuals aged between 16-21 (or 25 for those with special education needs or disability) the unique opportunity to develop the skills and experience needed to become leaders of the future, whilst also making a difference to to their community and Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT).  

By taking part in this one year programme you will:  

  1. Help influence the work of CACT: Alongside your fellow future leaders, you’ll have the opportunity to make sure that the voice of young people is listened to across all areas of CACT’s work.  

  1. Gain real life experience of how charities work and influence strategic decisions: This may include working alongside our Leadership team, Chief Executive and Board of Trustees, helping to shape policies, giving your opinion on our strategy, or being involved in the interview and recruitment process for staff and trustees  

  1. Access Mentorship and Networking opportunities: Gain valuable mentorship and networking experiences across various professions such as finance, education and law, expanding your horizons and connections.  

  1. Enhance Career Skills: Receive comprehensive training to refine your CV writing and interview skills, equipping you for future career endeavours. And at the program's conclusion, you’ll obtain a formal reference to bolster your job applications.  

  1. Achieve AQA Qualification: Upon successfully completing the program, you have the chance to earn an AQA qualification, further enriching your skillset and credentials.

This is a 12-month programme and those taking part will be expected to attend a workshop once every 3-months, as well as completing tasks and activities between workshops, making this programme manageable alongside other commitments such as school, university or employment.

Please note:  

  • This programme is open for young people aged 16-21 up to 25 for those with SEND  

  • You will have to commit to the whole 12 months to complete this programme   

  • Parental/Guardian consent is required if you have been accepted
