Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of Amalie Thestrup following the expiration of her contract with Bristol City.
The experienced forward joins the Addicks ranks boasting a stellar career, playing across the continent in Denmark, Italy and the Netherlands, alongside multiple stints in England.
“It feels so good to be here,” claimed Thestrup. “I’m really happy to be here and I’m excited to get going and hopefully achieve something special this season.
Capped at international level across various age groups, the Dane hopes to add a sense of experience to the side upon her arrival. Adding to what she believes is an already exciting group.
“I’m hoping to bring a bit of experience. I’ve been fortunate to have played in many different countries and leagues which has given me a lot of experience and understanding of different styles footballing philosophies that I hope I can bring to the side.
The 30-year-old also touched on the opportunity to work under Karen Hills, admitting she is relishing the opportunity to kick off the 2025/26 campaign against Crystal Palace on Sunday, September 7th.
“I’m very excited to get working with Karen, the staff and the team. It seems like a really exciting group. I’ve been incredibly excited since having that initial conversation with Karen, I can’t wait to get to work and get the season under way.
“From the get-go, I felt that Charlton was the right next step for me. The style of football that we would like to play suits me very well and vice versa. I think it was a great match from day one.”
