CACT AND WEST KENT COLLEGE LAUNCH 2017 ACADEMY

On Wednesday November 30th, Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) spent the evening at West Kent College to promote the 2017 football academy that’s run in conjunction between the two organisations.

Running for it’s 3rd successive year, the programme has proved popular and successful at West Kent College, getting the most out of students both on and off the field.

Claire Hutton, a previous participant in the academy said, “Overall I am thrilled I got to work and train with the trust (CACT). They have developed my skills, characteristics and experiences and I feel I can take on coaching jobs that comes my way, thanks to Charlton”.

Paul Robinson, an experienced coach at CACT, attended the evening saying, “We’ve got a great relationship here at West Kent College and we’re looking forward to the first trials of this successful academy in early 2017. We have a strong platform to build from here, so we’re expecting next year’s academy to be our most successful yet.”

The academy is open to talented footballers aged between 16-18 years, and is a must for any football enthusiast with a playing trial required, as places will be offered based on playing ability.

By studying a sport course at West Kent College, you will be eligible for the Post-16 academy, giving you the chance to increase your skills, play in competitive matches and gain additional qualifications. CACT’s qualified coaches will work with the lecturing team at West Kent College to provide both the practical and theoretical knowledge you will require, to build a successful career in the sports sector.

You will develop leadership and coaching skills, as well as increasing your knowledge of sports injury management and many other subject areas related to sport – potentially gaining a professional coaching qualification.

Ultimately, upon finishing your course at West Kent College, your career in sport could involve roles as diverse as working as a trainer or coach for a professional team, fitness management or leading on sport development projects at home and abroad.
