PREMIER LEAGUE CUP PREVIEW | Charlton v Fulham

George Jones reports

Charlton’s U23s are back in Premier League Cup action tonight when they host Fulham at the DGS Marine Stadium (7pm).

The encounter will be the Addicks’ third in Group F and they’ll be hoping to pick up maximum points, having recorded a draw and a defeat in their first two matches of this season’s competition.

Jason Euell’s side drew 3-3 with AFC Wimbledon in their first game of the newly-formatted cup in October. A goal from Josh Umerah and two from Jorge Teixeira put Charlton in command before the Dons fought back to earn a draw.

The Addicks then suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Middlesbrough. Despite putting in an impressive performance, they were undone by a late goal from Bryn Morris.

Last season, Charlton reached the quarter-finals of the Premier League Cup and only missed out on a place in the last four by the narrowest of margins, suffering penalty-shootout heartbreak against Huddersfield Town.

Season ticket holders and Valley Gold members are permitted to attend tonight’s fixture for free. Tickets are otherwise priced at £3 adults and £1 concessions.
