Clarke: 'I can't wait to play at The Valley'

'

New signing Harry Clarke is relishing the prospect of playing at The Valley on Saturday when Charlton host Sheffield United.

Reflecting on his first few days at Sparrows Lane, he said: "It’s been good. The lads are top and just being here, it’s a great set up.

"That feeling of being wanted is probably unmatched as a footballer, it's exactly what you want. I felt that as soon as I got here. Not just from the gaffer, but from the rest of the staff and the players.

“I can’t wait [to play at The Valley]! It’s actually a stadium that I've not played at, so I'm really looking forward to it! I was there at the Chelsea game and the atmosphere was top, so I can’t wait."

The Addicks face a club and a boss that Clarke knows well having spent the second half of last season on loan at Sheffield United.

"Everyone knows that Chris Wilder is a winner. He'll want to win and he'll get the lads up for it. He'll want to come here and show what the club can do. They haven’t had a particularly great season to their standards, so he's going to want to set that straight for the back end of the season."
