After sealing his move, Clarke said: "The main thing for me was the manager. I spoke to him and I got that feeling of being really wanted at a place straight away. Not many teams have come to Portman Road this season and won convincingly which Charlton did, so they're the appealing factors."
When asked to describe himself as a player, the 24-year-old said: "I’m passionate, hardworking, you'l never see me giving up or anything like that. I’m technical on the ball and hopefully I'll bring that to the boys. I'd like to get forward, playing a slightly different role in this system, probably. I want to try and help the boys, keep some clean sheets and see where we go."
Clarke recalls visiting Sparrows Lane as a 12-year-old with Arsenal when he played as a striker.
"It’s brilliant," he said. "I was here as a kid actually, probably about almost 12 years ago now, so a lot has changed! It’s a great facility and I can’t wait to work here.
"Reminiscing back to those days, I know some defenders get nosebleeds when they go over the halfway line, but I’m alright when I get up there! I think it also helps me on the other hand because I know what strikers like to do and things, so it helps me with my defending as well."
